Yesterday I came upon the Lamm website and found that there are patents pending on some product so I when to check it out hoping I could build me a pair of ML1.1
What I found was this ridiculous patent of some stupid way of mounting transistors that, by the way, no one on this site would dare doing. Maybe I got spoiled after building some Pass projects that absolutely never blow transistors but I am left wondering why would you want to screw the terminals into a phoenix contact for easy transistor removal.... Check it out uspto.gov patent number 5,470,795. I don't have an opinion one way or the other about Lamm company and I don't want to single them out in any way shape or form but I was kind of startled and amazed (in a bad way) that such crap could be patented. I There is absolutely nothing original in soldering a screw terminal header in a PCB and sticking a mosftet in it. So folks if you are doing that to match your mosfets I suggest you stop immediately I looked at the patent very quickly so....am I missing something??? It leaves me wondering how many of these so called "inventions" are deposited in the patent office. |
