What's the current avatar, Fred? On my screen, it looks like a cactus. You're Texas, right? I loved West Arkansas when I was there on a trip. The food was so much better than in NC.
Back to the avatar. . . I preferred Cartman thus far. Hey. Respect my au-tor-i-tah!!! Sorry for the OT, but Fred's avatar sometimes seems topical to me. Sandy. |

You guys are starting to make the dearly departed Julian Hirsch look more subjective rather than objective by comparison.

From Sandy- "What's the current avatar, Fred? On my screen, it looks like a cactus. You're Texas, right? I loved West Arkansas when I was there on a trip. The food was so much better than in NC.

From Grey- "The starred word above is p.r.i.c.k.l.y, as in a cactus." Grey was lamenting the fact that filter forced him to add the l.y. While the epithet was not directed at me (much to my surprise), I was ........... well, inspired would be the closest I can come to describing it. Cartman was Jocko's. We often get blamed for each other's transgressions. Strange....... I have no difficulty telling us apart at all. Giving credit where credit is due, as they say. F.r.e.d.l.y. * Sorry, looks like I ran out of room on the subject line! |

However, entertaining as these chats are, can we keep this thread on topic please. We want to make this a bit easier to follow, so building and relevant theory issues only please. Thanks all! Edit: cleaned up a bit anyway, feel free to carry on discussing irons and avatars

[QUOTE
I did a test with my wifes iron,(I thought it was a good idea until my wife saw it)QUOTE] Really impressed by that use of iron. My wife collects irons, most of them antique and not broken by me, they look really nice sitting around the fireplace. So- i built a pair of behind the bar speakers for a lokal pub, seeing the use i didŽnt feel like using real wood vener for finish so i bought some "black ash vinyl iron on vener". Using my wifes brand new steem iron i comenced to put this on the boxes with a nice result whit the cat watching. Then a friend rang and after a few minutes conversation i felt the smell and hung up. This made a much more impressive mess than just forgetting the iron on a shirt. The cat got tangled up a few of those half melted threads of vinyl but otherwise i managed to thoroughly clean up the iron with isopropanol. The wife comes home and instantly takes the iron out and starts working on an offwhite linendress SheŽs planned to wear to work tomorrow. After a few moments a grey/black vinyl residue ejects out of the steam holes in the iron making a pretty nice dress look like a fake zebra, she instantly recognise the culprit and i start saying: i was just making a pair of speakers for Peter when..... realising this wonŽt work i left and bought a new iron, a nicer new dress and as many roses i could carry, the matter was forgotten under friendly terms, the cat still looked a bit strange. That iron didŽnt make it for the collection either.

Interesting Rorschach test of Fred's psyche.
What I said bore no relation to the spin he's trying to put on it. Grey P.S.: And I know just the perfect Rorschach image for Fred's next icon... |

I re-read the comment referring to the cactus and didn't see the relation to Fred either. I guess that's why I missed it.
I would like to apologize for making a comment which in the end resulted in a split thread which could be considered "the good stuff" and "the other refuse which shouldn't have been there in the first place." I guess I need to watch my etiquette more. However, Pinkmouse, thanks for taking the action and trying to keep the builders thread clean. It is the obviously correct choice. I think I'll refrain from posting in a 'builders' thread until I actually am building! Sandy. PS: Please don't let this post kick off any more Fred vs. Grey. We all have our opinions of each person and for many, I doubt that either is negative. |
