Default Look what you guys have made me do.

After working for nearly 6 years in the banking industry, I have decided to go back to school for a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. I will be taking classes at night for the next decade it seems, but it is a small price to pay to get into a career that I will enjoy much more than banking.

I had no direction in college and just ended up with a degree that I knew I could use for pretty much anything. Now that I have discovered some real interests, it is time to do something about it.

This decision is directly related to the amount of time that I spend on this as well as various other audio related websites. Not to mention my good friend's machine shop and anothers custom car shop.

The way that I look at it.....I can work for 25 more years as a banker, or I can bust my butt for 3-4 years and spend the next 20 doing something that I enjoy. Too bad I can't quit the job and finish sooner.

Anyway thanks for sending me back to school. I though all that crap was over.

Congratulations! I'm in the middle of a career change too, though not as drastic as yours. Turning away from management and back to technical stuff. DIYaudio is probably partially to blame as well.

Stick to it, and good luck! I'm on my 2nd significant career-direction change, 1st one 12 yrs ago to go back and get my Master's, and 2nd one 3 months in to a *very* different technical job. Don't regret either move.
