MAD Magazine had "audiophiles" pegged nearly 50 years ago.
Was over on hifilit.com's website reading the "Mad Goes Hi-Fi" piece from 1958. In the "Letters to the MAD HI-FI Editor" section is the following letter:
Dear Hi-Fi Editor,
My turntable persists in revolving in the wrong direction. I cannot listen to my favorite music. What should I do?
Belinda Matrix
Portland, Ore.
Let the darned thing revolve any way it wants. No true Hi-Fi fan cares about music. It's the sound that's important!
