Default Ideas on how to pay for hosting:

I'm starting this thread to collect ideas on how to raise money to host this site.

I've had a few ideas:
1) Sell diyaudio.com email adresses to members for a yearly fee.
2) Sell small hosting packages to members for a monthly fee.

For both of these ideas, we'd need our own dedicated server, which would cost at least $140/month.

Please post your own ideas and what you think of my ideas. It'd also be helpful to know how much you'd be willing to pay for an email addy or hosting.

Default not gonna be easy

Well, i think you're into a a lot of trouble, if you need money to host the site... Here's what I think:
1. Sponsored (commercial?) links - don't think so... DIY is a religion not to be taken lightly... i've seen many a flames thrown at the slightest hint of advertising... so... bad idea
2. Paid e-mail address - yeah, might work... but I for one have at least 5 free e-mail adresses (yahoo, mailcity, hotmail, and i really can't remember the last two right now
3. Hosting - well, it's kinda' like with the paid e-mail... there are those DIYers that like to BRAG though (i meant show their stuff ... off
4. Donations - a penny here, a quarter there, two $, 3.75 euro... they add up, and with the number of readers this forum has, you might end up with a few hundred/month...

Anyway, that's my two cents on the matter... don't mind me, just passing by... and please excuse the poor grammar/spelling.

Sorin

As I suggested in the other thread, a "garage" sale on ebay. Get the extra components people have but don't need and put it up on ebay for sale. All the money goes towards diyaudio hosting.
