I read all the posts, but the submitter says that it is a tinker toy system for building PC cases.

I went to the manufactures site and found the LUBIC-4480.

Very cool, but I cant imagine that it is cost effective. The kit contains a bunch of familiar looking aluminum (anodized) extrusions and a bunch of do-dads for sticking them together.

The /. submitter says he stumbled across the stuff at Fry’s, but I was unable to find it on the Fry www.Outpost.com site.

Looks like good rapid prototyping stuff.

I think those lubic setups are pretty nice. Probably expensive like crazy, but they look really good and the are probably solid enough for proper use.

The extrusion seems to run around 3.50 a foot at McMaster-Carr when sold as Aluminum Linear Motion Rail. Not a bad price for that application...
