Fostex 460 Hiss

Hi guys,
i don't know if this the right section, but anyway..
i have this oldie Fostex 460 that i would like to use just for fun and jamming..
problem is that the internal hiss is so high that it seems to me to have a white noise generator inside my head.
even if i have all the channels off.
is there anything i can do to solve or at least reduce this problem?
i have some electronic equipment and just a bit of knowledge.. actually i have a more "passive" background, i build loudspeaker mostly.

Is it in all the outputs or just the stereo? In the headphones or only the line outs? Do ANY of the controls affect the sound in ANY way?

Chances are you have a noisy op amp somewhere. Look for the schematics.

Yes, it's constantly there, not responding to anything. And in all outputs. Iam looking for schematic since a while, no luck yet...
