Default Random Motor run Capacitor Question

I have to test a Compressor that takes a 250vac 12uf Motor Run Cap. I have 12uf worth of those green 1000vdc Russian PIO caps could those stand in for a Motor Run?

Thanks

Athos

Possibly, but they might not last too long. Caps intended for continuous AC use may be used for DC with no problem, but not necessarily the other way round. What will happen if one of the caps develops an internal short?

I've just had a look on E-Bay, you can buy the motor run caps for about $5.

I would only use the correct part,

If you get it wrong the motor will burn out.
Also the caps might overheat.

Regards

Thanks for the replies. I decided to just wait and get the correct part. Don't want to burn out the motor.
