I shall put up tidbits on my blog from time to time. I'm now wondering if I really need the LC filter when its primary purpose is to prevent IMD in active electronics. The only piece of active electronics in my proposal being the darlington buffer. Perhaps the LC filter is best construed as a crossover rather than anti-imaging filter.

I think digital pre-amp must contain DSP (digital signal processor). It has volume control, user defined parametric equalizer, at least 3 independent digital output with user defined active crossover. RTA (real time analyzer) is great feature to measure room frequency response. It is like computer for manipulate audio signal with simple user interface.
Whilst I most certainly see a role for DSP its not as a volume control nor digital crossover - for best dynamic range I think they'll need to be analog or perhaps hybrid analog/digital as my DAC chips currently are only 16bits and present too much of a bottleneck. Room correction though is a distinctly attractive feature, as is speaker LF phase linearisation.
