Default Bought myself a Christmas present!

I decided that my old PC spitting out all of my posts and doing a very nice and stable job for years now should retire.
It's a PIII450 with 512Mb Ram, Gygabyte MoBo, old SCSI with two SCSI drives and one ATA, 9GB, and two 4.3GB.
Today I ordered a new Intel 800Mhz board with 512Mb Ram, a 120Gb SATA HDD, PIV2.6Ghz HT CPU and next week I’ll upgrade my old mate. The old 19" case will serve me for many long years I hope.
I'm happily looking forward to it.
I can hear some people thinking: wouldn't he sell me the SCSI thing? Probably not. It served me too well and I might use it as a firewall or another test PC in the future.

/Hugo - Just happy to share this with you

for xmas im getting my apple 17" powerbook..

After xmas im thinking about ordering a refurbished dell power-edge dual pIII 500 mhz box with scsi drives in it to be my new web-server..

that computer you got netlist.. isn't that a rack mounted server box. why not just leave it as is and use it as your desktop. put another processor in there and beef up the memory more..

Best money I've ever spent! You won't regret that one. LspCAD Pro is awesome! Get an 8 ch pro sound card like something from RME or M-Audio and start simulating those crossovers. Works like a charm and you can tweak in real time while playing music through your drivers . It's the only one loudspeaker SW package that can do this task that I know of. Ingemar is finalizing the lspCAD 6, and it is looking to be a great one as well (I'm a Beta tester). If you need a couple of pointers on using the SW just email me.

It is indeed a server box and used as my desktop.
I'll keep it but if I want to beef it up with a faster CPU I'll need a new MoBo, which means new Ram. It's a BX400 chipset. I'm not sure BX400 can take more than 450-500 Mhz CPU's.
And I want more...

Thunau, cheers, I bought the pro version for that very reason the real time simulation. I have a Soundblaster 6 channel card, so I think I can get a two channel three way out of it. If I have any problems Ill be sure to ask, cheers.

Conwanrg - Why dont you DIY amps?, just build some good designs, beat rotels and save money!. Im never going to buy another amp again, unless its not for me . My 200 watt monos cost all of £150, this includes everything, beat the socks off a Quad 77 £700. Building another set to replace my mum and dads 77!.

Bricolo - Im a student too ordered some samples too, loads of op amps 627's and ad6010's they are now singing sweetly in my active xover, driving my three way. My next project a la samples will be a DAC curtesy of TI!, Ive got the PCB designed I just need to check it. P.S. what course are you doing? Im in my 1st year studying Acoustics at Salford Uni here in the UK.

JasonL - Gratz on your job >.< hope it makes you loads of money that you can throw at annoying the SO, in other words fill your kitchen with traffos, heatsinks, MDF dust and flux fumes

Netlist - I hope you have no problems upgrading, when it all goes wrong its not exactly a barrel of laughs. We upgraded our PC's, main server 2.8Ghz, with gainward geforce4 super model 128mb ram, main ram 512. So we did up that 1 and I got the MB process and ram, bought all the other bits, now I have my own PC! (900mhz 256 ram voodoo3 2k), rents got a crap 300mhz in their room, all on a wireless lan with broad band at server.

P.S - I hope santa gets you all what you want...... have you all been good children this year
