Default Tube or solid state?

Can We have "just" a poll no comments like: this one sounds better, more reliable, less distortion, more expensive, easier to build etc, etc. that way We can see how many people go for Tubes or Solid stated. My vote is Solid stated!

uhm, I don't care and do both. In the end it's the circuit design and execution that determines quality.
oh, what a beautifull day
I wanna go out and play!

this is cause of endless discussions
pure wire with gain (holy grail they say), versus circuit which changes color of the sound slightly

Depending on the music I want to listen to, I would do both for the choice.

First of all it is very important to answer the question what stereo concept suppose to be implemented is Class A or Class AB.

In case audio source is LP or HiEnd RedBook-SACD (like Wadia - EmmLabs) it make sense implement Class A. Class A most likely does benefit from hi sensitivity speakers & tube gear.

Well if we are talking about some exotic speakers like Magnepans then Class A solid state amplification is required.

Class AB does benefit from ICs opamps (means solid state).

Presently tube phono preamp, tube AM radio from the 1950's, everything else solid-state

Both, small signal : tube, big signal : solid state.
So for DACs I prefer tubes but for speakers solid state.
