I have a Sandisk Sansa+ Clip MP3 player that I usually connect to an Akai 930:
Clip+ headphone jack > RCAs > Akain 930 Aux in (or Tape in)
However, the mp3 player output is probably too low and I cant get a decent volume through the speakers connected to the Akai.
How can I solve this?
I'm ready to follow instructions and solder an amp kit, if that's the case.
Thank you,
Francisco

Buy/construct a preamplifier or a voltage amplifier.
If u r looking for a voltage gain of 2, you can use DRV134 and very simple to construct, but u have to check that doubling the output is good enough.
The easiest other one is to construct using NE5532 op-amps. Of course, you will need an appropriate power supply.

IF there is room inside the amp you could put it there and use the existing power supply.............
Have a look at this and in particular post #17

Connect the MP3 to the phono input and see if it is ok for you for the time being. Things may not sound good...
Many cheap amps have opamp-based phono input, while nowadays only expensive ones can play as good as CD players. I mean, the phono amps are useless. Not difficult to modify the circuit to have suitable gain.
I ended up successively building this one (there's a link for the schematic under the price number):
MP3 stereo audio amplifier kit - DIY audio amplifier kit - 2136
I had a TDA2822 here and gave it a shot. It's powered by a 9v battery and it sits between the Sansa Clip+ and my Denon 345 video input (nearly the same impedance as Tape or CD - phono has RIAA EQ, no good).
I found these other amps built around the TDA2822:
