Hi, I'm building a cabinet for my home theatre setup using Polk audio db series car speakers i had lying around, will it hurt to use them on a 6ohm receiver?
The receiver is 125rms @ 6ohm the speakers are 88spl and 100rms @ 4ohm they dip to 3.4ohm at low freq. They should be easier to drive then cheap 6ohm speakers. If I'm totally wrong please advise. Thanks, Was |

Supposing that the amplifier inside the receiver is a normal one, you can use 4 ohms speaker in a 6 ohms output stage, bat keep in mind that power output, temperature inside the cabinet and distortion will all them being increased. There would not be any trouble using them. But, in any case, use less volume control set.

Cheers I suspected as much but wanted to clarify as everyone's opinion seems to be different on the matter.
