I've been considering, instead of using inaccurate words to describe equipment performance, I record the equipment's output, then replace a few seconds of the original track with the recorded version, and let people hear the difference themselves.
But
- I'd need 24/96 material to demonstrate the advantages of 24/96 equipment over 16/48 ones
- The track needs to be "audiophilish" enough to avoid excuses like "badly recorded/mastered" and "it's a bad song so not revealing of equipment performance"
- The track can be used for this purpose without lawyers knocking my door
Recommendations please?

Linnrecords has some sample test files available that might be what you are looking for, they are in 24 bit 192 kHz lossless format though, rather short play times of course due to file size.

Though I can't vouch for the legality of using the free download tracks for any particular purpose. If in doubt, contact the owners.
