A Voice Over Circuitry

Greetings everyone in DIYAUDIO, I have some question about my voice over circuitry, and my friend directed me to register and ask my question in this forum to get a more profesional assist.

I am building a voice-over circuitry that capable to mute the background music softly in the manner of fading in and out.

I have attached my schematics at below. Now I have a problem that when the mic is sending input, it can't completely mute the background music. Is there any possibility to enhance it to mute the music more completely when the MIC is sending input?

I am not seeking spoon feed from this forum, just need some tips for me to study and figure it out. In the meanwhile, I will try my best to contribute much more in this forum in the coming future. Thanks

You need to add some resistance in the music feed. A potential divider won't work too well if the upper resistor is too small.

I believe you will need some gain in the mute circuit, this could be provided by the redesign of the circuit around Q1. I myself would prefer a FET (like the 2N5460) as mute transistor as it has a low "on" resistance. E
