I watched it first time round on TV a couple ? of years ago. I think that was the one where he showed how flourescent tubes light up by just being stuck in the ground under overhead (EHV) power lines.

Jim Al-Khalili has done some terrific programs over here on chemistry too. All well worth a watch.

Mooly,

You just reminded me of a funny thing. Many years ago, when I worked at an FM radio station in Brazil, the residents of the shanty town on the side of the hill where the antenna was located had fluorescent lamps hanging in their shacks. In the evening you could see the pale light inside those shacks, even though they did not have electric power service.
