Default Restoring turntables / aluminium

Hi all,

I'm trying to restore some old gear. My goal is making it look as good as new.

Here's my question: How can I clean aluminium surfaces to make them shiny again? One way would be re-polishing, but sometimes it is not possible, for example when the surface is not even, but slightly structured. For example, the small dots on the turntable edge that get illuminated by the strobe have small "lines" and thus I cannot polish them.

Is there some kind of magic liquid which restores aluminium surfaces?

I have tried several 'magic liquids' which purported to do what you need and none was fully successful. Some left ugly white marks which took a lot of scrubbing to remove. Just be careful.

Put a very very fine grit sandpaper drum on a dremel and san a layer off each little surface.

Then stick half of a cotton swab onto a dremel and dip that in some aluminum marine polish and do each surface one at a time...

This should take a few long hours, but... It'll be very shiny afterward...

... Just had to put that in... I can't think of any fast ways of polishing that puppy up....
