Hi Roberto
OK here you are. I make phono carts and the stuff I use I buy from a local firm called Pratley. The type is 'Special Performance Industrial Adhesive', Grade 020. See www.pratley.com I point out I have now connection with this firm, I only use their glue which is is a two-part epoxy of most extraordinary strength. I made numerous trials over a 5 year period and this stuff is perfect. As you know aluminium oxidises instantly whenthe metal is scraped. This is OK. My own trials indicate that anodised ally will not work properly unless the anodising is scraped off. To give you an idea how strong the bond is between two oilfree aluminium surfaces (rough the mating surfaces a little) is that in order to take it apart cold after it has set, you will literally tear the metal. The only way it comes apart is to heat the glued job on a red-hot stoveplate and tear it apart after about 2 minutes, just before the aluminium melts. I buy the stuff in a box containing 2 x 25ml tubes. Regards all bulgin |
