I am surprised not to see a forum dedicated to sound control/management. Traps, reflectors etc, from the DIY point of view. Is this no longer sexy enough to have interest? Covered well enough elsewhere? Endless threads on such trivial things that are .00001% problems, yet basic control does not have a home. From my experience, sound management is half of the speaker and can be equally difficult and expensive.
I'll start off with one of my secrets. Damaged fiberglass drop ceiling tiles. You can usually talk a store down to half or less. The other advantage is a bundle of 2 x 4 foot panels fit in my car. Full sheets of compressed board do not.
Guess not. Everyone but us must be totally unaware that this subject is half their results and you should be spending as much on sound management as you do on speakers. Far more effective than this weeks magic cables.
No worries, things will pick up.
I was pondering a project to put on here. I already have acoustic tiles on the ceiling.
Are you covering these tiles and hanging them on the wall? or are you doing something else with them?

They are on the wall behind the speakers. 3 layers of tile, a layer of cotton bat and covered in burlap. All in a thin wood frame. It is hard to describe what it can do for imaging, other than the double take the first time I heard a focused sound coming from several feet outside the width of the speakers.
I am thinking about a bass trap system for my main room based on several sizes (masses) for the back wall. In theory, it can look just like the wall, ( very low domestic distortion). I have another idea for absorption traps in the attic with just a band of cloth viable across the last foot on the ceiling right at the back wall. Both are pretty drastic construction, but do not intrude on the room. All this is after my current diversion into amps.
