However, if one considers that going from 50w to 500w can only give you a 10db increase, it just seves to illustrate how important a high wattage amp can be. Like I said, loud transients can really "eat up" at lot of watts in an instant! Also, one must take into cosideration that at avereage listening levels, an amp would be only be required to deliver a small fraction of that 100w, so there will be some headroom. High power amps are easy to get, but then you'll need a pre. As this is a DIY forum, you'll find plenty of designs, but a pre is little more than a selector and VC, maybe with a buffer. Easy and cheap to build. |

Maybe I missed something but I'm still not sure if this is for in home use or something for the occasional DJ'ing at a party. If more of a Pro amp fits your needs look at what QSC has to offer. Lot of choices at all price points and power. Perfect for party and many use them in their home systems.

I think it is for home use.
Judging from a past post by JOE DJ, he is unaware of the disc jockey, DJ. aspect. |

Yes, I guess some are confused by my "name" in this and another thread..... "DJ" refers to my initials, not me being a " Disk Jocky".
Honestly, I'm a bit confused by this as I never mentioned being a DJ in any way. Last edited by JoeDJ; 29th January 2012 at 04:49 PM. |
