I will read J Attwood's article. As usual, I expect there is more to learn in there.

I seem to recall his name. Did he write for, or edit, a UK audio/electronics monthly?

Yes, I try to keep an open mind with testing such as this, but when someone ventures to make (create) such tests, I will try to correlate it to what I have built and listened to in the past. Still, it is at least interesting to see some testing approaches. He does disclaim that the tests were all-encompassing.
