As the title suggests, I have one of these amps that I have enjoyed over the past 15 years that I found by a dumpster. I reconditioned the unit when I was 16 by replacing the volume control, tape monitor switch, and power supply electrolytics myself for about $100. Now though other switches are becoming problematic, particularly the function switch and the ALPS volume control I replaced.
I was wondering if anyone has tried replacing these old function switches with relays or something a bit more modern. How about binding posts for the speakers instead of the awful push terminals? I'm just trying to keep this amp going since it has a nice layout (two power supplies and output stages) and really meets my needs. I thought about getting another preamp and bypassing the onboard, but that is costly. Any input/thoughts are appreciated. -harley |

I bought one of those amps new in 79. Still have it and use it almost every day. I had to replace a filter cap in it several years ago but that has been the only issue I had. The owners manual had a very complete and accurate schematic included also. Anyway, you can try this link, you might find someone reasonably close.
