Is there anyone or any web sites out there that explane how to do this?
I would like to build from scratch a FM Reciever or buy a pre made one to put in my own chassis. There are all kinds of info on building amps BUT not much on how to pick up RF signals; solid state or tube would be fine. Any idears anyone?? Thanks, Robert |

You may want to look at this thread, where I posed a similar question.

end designs in the ARRL handbook -- and you can order PCB's from the ARRL
it's not an easy project as you need tools (a Sencore AM-FM test/alignment set would be nice.) you also need more than modest skill with VHF teqhniques -- but ham radio guys make their own equipment into microwaves all the time. there is an FM tuner newsgroup at Yahoo, btw. |

The consensu seems to be that the equipment and gear needed are beyond the usual DIYer. That said there is or was a Velleman kit that you may be able to find at www.qkits.com.
One of the next posters will no doubt refere you to a website for restoration of old 70's and 80's era tuners. I've seen this but can't recall the URL. It looks good and gutting an old unit and putting it in a new good looging enclosure sounds like a viable course for you . Finally do a search for TEA5767/68. This is a Philips IC that is an FM stereo in a single chip. IF you can get your hands on one and IF Philips can/will provide application information on hyow to use it, you might have something there. |
