This ebay celler has a cheap 500w amp for about $15 look at the power requirements.

500W from 12V and in such a small enclosure? With no ugly heatsink in sight (hidden inside I suppose). And he's driving the speakers with the thin wires that will go into those clips! Will wonders never cease?

Give him an IEEE fellowship. And a Nobel prize in physics!

The featured amp looks like the Lepai LP-A2, which uses the TDA7057Q.

The outputs are bridged, and the Philips data sheet only talks about it doing 3W into 16 ohm loads. Lower impedance loads may not hurt it since it's supposed to be short-circuit protected.

Unless it's the AQ version... which is spec'd at up to 8W into 8 ohms. Neither version has an overload pin on the chip (unlike the TA2024). Maybe there's just a comparator to indicate overloads.
