Cal,
The shape is classic Altec. I know you are a big fan. That tells me you don't go after the junk made in later years. The Altec guys I knew blamed it all on LTV Altec getting used as leverage in mergers, saddled with debt and unable to even get the parts they needed to continue production, not even consider new research. The there was the tangerine phase plug. As I understand that one, the research guys had spent 2 million and pretty much confirmed everything that was already known, so they had to come up with something new to justify the expense.
So yes the picture looks just like a classic horn because the basic principles are the same!

Please visit this thread for more info about the components at Woodstock '69 and how it pertains to Bill Hanley.

BTW, the concert site has been completly revamped and is now the "Bethel Music And Arts Center" where concerts are regulaly held in the summer. I doubt that any of the original sound components are still there over 40 years later.

Simon my friend I wish that were true. Alas, I am forever taking stuff home to a place where I know it will get more love than sitting on a shelf in some store or garage sale. I have adopted many orphans. Not all are Altec 604's
