I've been dropping hints that I need a new project and think I may build a "stereo", as opposed to another guitar amp. She hasn't complained or objected. I have been slowly ordering parts, they look to her the same as the generally less expensive parts that are all over my shop that I use in my other amps. She came to accept that stuff a long time ago and if she doesn't ask, I'm not telling. I think she prefers my electronic tinkering to guitar playing (too loud), and wood working (too messy).
My business has been doing well so all bills are payed and money is there to be socked away for when we are old(and I am still building stuff). She seems to complain most when she is unhappy with herself, so, of course, I always tell her she looks good when she asks me if she looks fat. She is a flight attendant, so when she is away, and the kids are in bed, I have time to do my thing. If I try and get too much done when she is around, I am neglecting her and I had better watch my step. To her, spending time together in the evening is when both our eyes are little pinwheels as we watch some trite show on t.v.. Right now, she is happy, I am happy, and my current project goes on. |
