Illuminated XLR cables…

No joke. I just saw these in an add in this months MIX magazine. From the world of Hartley Peavey:

Designed for use with condenser or dynamic microphones, the female XLR connector features LED illumination and a choice of 8 different colored lenses.

I guess the idea is to help keep track of microphones on dimly lit stages. I have to wonder, do the blue cables sound better?

BTW: Yup, the LED is phantom powered.

The Peavey product line spreads like an aggressive virus. I think its tough to go just about anyplace in North America that’s more tan a few miles from a music store that’s bursting with their products. At $43.99 us list, it’s a bit price-y for a 20-foot non audiophile cable.

I have to imagine that this thing wouldn’t be useful for much more than PA use.
