One way to do sort of what you seek without some of the associated complications would be to seek out sales of high quality gear needing repair, fixing/upgrading it on your schedule then reselling the repaired equipment. While this is has its own set of issues it might be a way to get started.

Tax is where it starts to get a pain... in this country, you can't make any attempt to better yourself without the government wanting a piece of your income, as small as it may be...

And kevinahcc, yep, I'm now keeping an eye out for anything worth refurbing for a profit. Obviously, the Cyrus is a good start. Obtained for nothing, approximately 35 of parts, should go on eBay with it's matching PSX, both in their original boxes for around 200! Fingers crossed!

That's a rarity though, getting something for nothing and therefore anything at selling point is a profit...
