I once had a plasma that had a dark blob in the corner of the screen - after pulling it apart I discovered it had soot on the inside of front glass - it was an easy fix. Now my LCD TV (30" Viewsonic) is developing a large diffuse darker blob in the centre of the screen - it is only noticable with certain programme material (mainly darker stuff). Is it new TV time (this thing is only 3 years old) or is there a fixable aspect to this. The blob seems to be slowly growing - I suspect something to do with the backlight.
