I can't find the other thread so I'm starting a new one...
The system: ![]() W00t, finally got rid of that P2-233 and am now running a 1.2GHz Duron! That's supposed to be diyAudio on screen but the cam didn't expose it right I guess so whatever. My headphones amp is hiding between computer and monitor. The two 6DJ8s can be seen sticking up against the window shade background... In the bottom left corner you see Frankenhouse, the 6V6 PP amp, and in the lower right corner you can barely see the top of Hept'AU7. Hiding inside the top drawer is that oft-mentioned preamp of mine: ![]() And a closeup: ![]() - That's a 12AT7 in front and a 12AU7 in back. Seems to give the right balance of gain and frequency response (remember it's feeding a Baxandall circuit). Tim

The pushbuttons select the audio source from the FM Walkman, Win TV USB, or laptop and direct it to either little Sony headphones or Cambridge SoundWorks speakers. The "passive-pre" sits in between the switch and the speakers.
