Hello, I have a TD 2150 Tube Driver amp from PPI (Precision Power) and it is ten years old and has a DIN/Balanced input that uses a 6-pin mini-DIN plug, but I cannot make sense perfectly what each pin and the grounding-shield should be connected to.
The owner's manual states: "Balanced mini-DIN connections use six pins and one grounding ring. Pins 1 and 2 are open connections, normally they would carry your remote turn on voltage. Pins 3/4 and 5/6 are a pair of twisted conductors for the music signal. The twisting of the inner wires rejects or eliminates radiated noise by more than 30 db. The inner pairs of wires are then protected by an outer shield connected to Pin 1." So, if I am to build a proper cable to use this input, how should it be constructed?? The 5 pin DIN connections on Orion and PPI featured power to run accesories such as crossovers and equalizers. But, the owner's manual doesn't mention any 12 V or 15V of power, so it should connect easily to a set of RCA's from my source unit. The question is whether I use Pin 3 for + on RCA Left, and Pin 4 for - on RCA left or if 3 and 4 are to + on RCA left and I use the grounding shield for - on RCA left?? Can anyone help me with my this question? |
