Nakamichi remote codes?

Hi,

I have a Nakamichi DR-1 tape deck (3 head). For whatever reason, Nakamichi decided not to have an IR remote for it; instead they have a (2-wire) socket at the back for a wired control (presumably) operable from a master controller/amp. I think HK also does the same thing.

I was wondering if anyone has the codes/ protocol spec for the Nakamichi wired remote systems. Do they follow the NEC or Sony specs? Baseband or carrier?

My aim is to build a remote controller for the deck. I have built a PIC 87x-based IR receiver using the NEC spec., and Im hoping to be able to adapt/modify this.
