If I want to build RCA-cables out of wire with two wires and a shield, should I then parallel the two inner wires (for a "coax" configuration) or use both one of the inner wires and the shield for ground (for a "shielded twisted-pair" configuration)? Assume that each of the inner wires are thick enough to carry the signal on their own.

Standard in pro-audio is to use the cores for signal and ground, and connect the shield at just one end.
