This is not a forum problem, so one of the mods will move this to the right place.
The TBA120 is an FM chip. It has a limiting IF amp, and a quadrature demodulator. An external tuned circuit produces the frequency-related phase shift for the demodulator. It could be used for AM, but then the phase shift must be removed so it becomes a synchronous demodulator. The IF strip will not amplify AM too well, as it will limit it, but it could be used to strip off modulation and so produce the inserted carrier. I think some radio amateurs used it in this mode in the 1970s, so there may be something about this somewhere on the web or in old radio books. |
