Default The DaVi system for audio hearing capability

And just so this forum covers everything serious and silly about audio, I proposed the following self-ranked system for rating our hearing capability.

24Karat Golden ear
22K
18K
14K
10K
24K Silver ear
22K
18K
14K
10K
24K Bronze ear
22K
18K
14K
10K
Tin ear
Lead ear

Nomenclature can be shortened to read xxK GDV, xxK BDV, TDV or LDV.

This is an exponential scale similar to SPLs measured in dB with each ranking a doubling of ability compared to the one below. Also, I suggest that the average person be rated at 24K Bronze so that anyone with more than a passing interest would automatically self-rank at 10K Silver or better. Note that a lowest level Golden ear will hear at least 64x better than the average consumer and a perfect ear will be >1000x better than average.

:)ensen.

PS: It might be silly, but it's named after my cat, DaVi (which is short for Leonardo Da Vinci).

PPS: Mega thanks to the originators and moderators of this great forum. Long live DIY!

Maybe I have a plutonium ear...

It's the least conductive (thermally and electrically) of all metals IIRC.
