Hellow everyone. I am someone trying to get some half decent recordings for my band. And i want to know why i need an interface. I am running a couple of shure mixers stacked, so i have 8 channels, then having them run into my computer with some wiring hand made. It workes, but has some hum. The only reson i can find to use a interface is to seperate the vocal track from the instermental. Why else should I spend the money on an interface system.
And also what software should I be using. I am using audacity recording from my stacked mixers. Is there anything I should be doing instead?? Thanks for any help you can give me. |

Consider an interface to be a much more sophisticated -- and often better -- replacement for the sound card built into your computer.
