Hi all,
I have built a new discrete power amp. I just set the bias current as recommended in the article. The article says ``adjust the output of the source so as to deliver 2 watt and let the amp be on for six hours with a dummy load.'' Here is my problem: How do I get an output of 2 watt? Do I just use my cd player and adjust it to the necessary voltage and current? Or what else can I do? Thanks for any help. Cheers, Vivek |

Hi,
I think they mean 2V RMS not 2W. So just hook up your CDP to the amp and have a CD play in a loop during the bread-in period. Cheers,

You are probably right. But I think the whole idea is to check whether the transistors are stable and do not overheat, right?

Hi,
Amongst other things, yes. But I fail to see why that would need six hours to find out. In any case monitor your circuit for a while to see if all behaves as expected. Cheers,
