Checked out the microphone recommendations at Sigfried Linkwitz's site. http://www.linkwitzlab.com/sys_test.htm#Mic
He recommends the WM60AY and to modify it. I have no plans to modify just for simple speaker testing, which is what I plan to do with this. He also mentions the WM61. The WM61B comes with pins to make soldering easy. Both the WM 60 series and the WM 61 series appear to have similar flat frequency response. My question is: Can there possbily be anything wrong with ordering the WM61B with the pins instead of the WM60A which is Linkwitz's first choice? It doesn't seem possible, but you never know. Seems to me the pins will make the soldering of the leads safer. I would appreciate any ideas on this.

I haven't used the '61, but soldering to the '60 was a piece of cake. And so was the mod. They're cheap enough to order a dozen of each and see which you like better.

Okay, maybe I put the cart before the horse. Is the modification really worth doing? Because Linkwitz was talking about "distortion at moderate levels" without the modification, but then mentions such things as functioning well at 134 dB instead of 128 dB as being important. 128 dB is an 88 dB @ 1M/1Watt speaker driven by 10,000 Watts! It makes me wonder what Linkwitz considers "moderate levels".
Heck, if the modification is that easy, I'll just go "by the book" and do it Linkwitz's way. I'll order the WM60As. Thanks for the input.
