My bro in laws old Loewe TV recently packed it in - shame really, it had an excellent picture and surprisingly good sound; so good that he saved the speakers and amp before taking the rest to the tip!
I've got my hands on the Loewe half cut now and plan on turning it into a bluetooth boombox: ![]() ![]() What I need help with is the integrated amp. My bro in law didn't save the audio controls or the circuit board that went with them (if there was one), so I'm not sure what inputs on the amp handle my volume control, audio input and so on - or whether I'm missing another bit of circuitry completely. Here's a picture of the amp. I've labelled what I know and don't know. ![]() Any advice on how I'd go about safely testing what's what would be much appreciated. I haven't had any luck finding any schematics online for the TV. To keep costs town and keep the unit compact I'd like to use the original amp. If I can't work out how it all works my plan is to gut an old rotel amp and use it instead. Hopefully we can save the fine old rotel from getting chopped up |

Undoubtedly the rotel will be more hi-fi and will have more grunt than those little 5 legged IC amplifiers . Check on their body if they are TDA 2030 ,probably they are . On the right of the pcb ,those 4 black components are diodes ,which rectify the AC current coming from transformer , and those yellow cylinders are the smoothing capacitors . You can reverse the pcb and check following the traces . The relay (trasparent ) on the right is for stand-by purpose ,you can eliminate it . I suggest to find someone with little electrical skills and knowledge , who will take 5 minutes of his time to bring to life that stereo amp .
Aren't boomboxes supposed to play without the mains ? ![]() You'll have more fun in dividing the box in two parts ,or make two nice little speakers from it . |

Thanks for the info mate.
You were right about the ICs, TDA 2030. Unfortunately I can't find anyone who doesn't want to charge me more then this thing is worth to help me out with it. I've posted my question on a specialist electronics forum though so hopefully with their help I'll be able to figure all of this out! |
