Man have you guys ever noticed Stereo Shops smell so good! Like the smell of wood and warm electronics...wish I could duplicate that...without the obvious of buying all the gear!
Sorry didn't know if this was "Off Topic", but it didn't seem to fit in with World Peace and Paint Ball. |

I suspect a lot of it is trace amounts of solvents and other stuff burning off as a lot of gear in a small space is burned in. Probably quite nasty...

Seems there is a niche for a new product. HiFi shop smell in
spray cans. |

What about the smell of old PA gear?
Years ago, when I used to go to concerts frequently, I get addicted to that smell. Fender guitar amps smelled gorgeous. Don’t know about other Bose equipment, but did you ever notice the smell of old 901’s? Esoteric I would say… /Hugo |

Maybe one could just put a resistor in plastic or wood box and
plug it to the mains. Should get about the same smell as an amp. |

Maybe flushing a whole bunch of money down the toilet would do it.

A little methyl ethyl ketone, few burnt resistors, some solder flux and maybe throw in a couple of fried transistors. Then it will smell like a real repair shop.

Most of the stores over here smell just like any other place full of people from Plano. Yuk.

The good shops have lots of vintage gear and thus smell like rotting vinyl wire insulation. Heat that up with some tube power and you are talking.
