A Warning Speaker Cables on EBAY

Hi All

I am posting this as a warning to others

I have just bought on EBAY some speaker cable which appears to be (is) fake

It is listed as OFC 2.5 Sq mm I bought 50m for a very good price however this turned out not to be the case, the cable was made up of copper clad aluminium (CCA) wires 322 strands per conductor

The first thing that cuaght my attention was the weight of the coil - It weighed in at 1.88Kg - 100m of 2.5 sqmm copper alone weighs 2.25 kg alone without the insulation.

I then scraped the conductors with a scapel and looked at it under a microscope the copper colour had come of leaving a silver colour.

I tried to tin this silver colour but could not.

Conductors were very brittle

I hope this helps someone else not to be scammed as there seems to be MANY like it on EBAY UK Site

Can this be reported to EBAY ? if such fake products are hosted there, then the site may soon lose the trust.
