I have done this years ago but due to other priorities I have to put the project on hold. and since I lost my files more than a year ago, I cannot search there. I did a net search but quite frankly, I'm not sure what to ask.
anyway, here's what I have: 2 capacitors + 4 diodes here's a very rough sketch (using MS paint): http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/5012/31126513.png thank you very much

With 4 diodes and 2 caps you can make a dual (split) supply with a suitable centre tapped transformer. You don't draw diodes like that ![]() Taking the nearest to what you have drawn, and they actually "short" the supplies.

You can only do so much with those components. What value were the caps ?
There must be more to the circuit.

Was it in the AC primary circuit of a transformer to cut DC from the windings and make it run quieter ?
Like this, Mains DC and Transformers Look at figure three.
