As a newbie Im certain to be stupid asking this but,,,Im going to try building a mullard 5/10 amp and in the parts list is a double 50mfd cap on the power supply as a resevoir can I use two caps as a substitue?

Back in the old days, multiple section caps were used for convenience. They took up less space. But back then, one 20uf 450v cap was as big as a 6V6 tube, while present day caps of the same ratings are smaller than my thumb.
Certainly you can use separate caps. |
