Default electronics recycle issue

we had an event related to recycle hosted in athens

since greeks are not realy ready for something like that but now days working on it with a good prospect and seems that even though not familiar with recycle Greeks at least are quickly activated and go for it ...

We have a recycle carrier that is gov issue and advertize the event in tv and radio asking people to bring in to a specific area anything that they have to recycle related to pc and peripherals mobile phones and peripherals at the time

( other even is planed for "white" appl. and audio or tv related electronics)

the very weird thing is that G people come out on tv and radio and said that they will not accept for recycle devices that are half broken or have cables sticking out of them or partialy damaged either inside or outside ....

i wonder what was the cause of that and most importand what happens in other countries ???

i actually find this quiet strange

regards sakis

The same thing is going on here in Germany. I don't know what their problem is. It's probably because they're afraid of people grabbing the good things that contain gold, copper, etc. and then dump the worthless leftovers at the recycling facilities.

never had any problems, they accept anything that looks like electronics or electric stuff. Doesn't matter if the device is complete or if it is a device at all.
Regards

the thing is that after the company served the recycle purpus then the material that is coming out of this is sold out toy iron alouminum or plastic dealers so actually as we speak the recycle company sits on a pile full of money and nobody know where this is going to go ....

even recycle is a strange issue ..... not to mention proffitable

Ah! Your government is copying our boneheaded laws I see

What I was told was if it's bits-and-pieces, or broken, just dumpster it at the landfill.
(a personal or commercial dumpster will net a fine, it has to be at the landfill)

So I've been stripping-to-useless any board or junk equipment I get OR... saving the cases and the recycle place gets a perfectly good looking, but rather parts free something or other

Although officially, they have to plug in the devices on appliances (incl. TV's, VCR's, DVD/CD players, etc.) and look for a switch-on or light, according to the local depot.

Cheers!
