Default Jim Thiel passes

Jim Thiel co-founded THIEL Audio Products of Lexington, KY
September 17, 2009 — We have just received the sad news that loudspeaker designer Jim Thiel has passed away. Following is the text of the official announcement:

Sat with him at the CES 2009 exhibit listening to his latest design. I remember looking at him and thinking he looked a little thin in my mind. Don't know when he was diagnoised.
He died from lung cancer (smoking)
He was a true gentleman
Counterpoint's Mike E. is next... if he doesn't give that S&*! up

Life is short. No need to reel it in closer

I met him in Columbus, OH during a presentation at Progressive Audio a decade or so ago. An exceptionally kind individual. I was a teenager at the time and despite my rudimentary experience he treated me as though I was just one of the guys and answered each of my questions thoughtfully.

His passing is truly a loss for the community.

He was a true pioneer in the speaker building indusrty. He will most certainly be missed by all.
