Default Interconnects

A friend of mine dropped off some cables which he uses in his line of work (IT hardware). It has BNC connectors and he says the cable is used for data transmission at very high freq. Is there a reason why BNC connectors, nor this type of cable, isn't being used for audio interconnects? The BNC connectors seem superior to RCA.

RCA is a legacy connector. Look at what a PITA companies like b&o and levinson have caused with their cabling.

ps. I would like to switch to bnc at some future date. They're cheap too.

Default Bnc

I'm new to the forum and have really enjoyed diy audio but I haven't built anything since the mid 80s. I have the time now so I'm in the process of starting fresh. The cost factor is nice too. I'm sure it will be a build it and listen process. With that being said, do you have any experience or insight on what type of cable that would be a good starting point?

Also, it is a legacy why in home audio asymmetric interconnects are used. They create ground loops that cause many problems, like hum, RFI pickup, odd feedbacks, and so on...

I think Naim used to use DIN connectors, and DartZeel use co-axial BNC or similar.

Same type of cr4p going on in the headphone world... a 4-pin XLR would be an ideal upgrade, but the idiots at HeadRoom insisted on introducing two x 3-pin XLRs for their own marketing bravardo. Shame on them.

BNC connectors can be found on some DACs and soundcards for digital audio. And video and LAN too... but it feels like an old connector to me. Oh the 10mbps days (which luckily I'm too young to live through).

Yea I notice that few professional thingies use RCA, only found in consumer realm.
