OK...So the other day we were listening(Watching) a TV show the other day & the audio was way bad. It was extremely annoying to me..& my wife hadn't noticed. I described it as "Its' as if they are talking thru a 55 Gallon drum!" ANNOYING!! We have Direct TV & the audio is all over the map....volume levels are inconsistant, distorted, overloaded (Maxed). Where are the sound engineers??Coffee break?
I once described the Computer/MP3 sounds as a "warbled" sound....other forum members couldn't understand my description. Do we need to create a standardized scientific catagory for "unknown" distortion types? Or do they exist for this "New world" of audio?. ___________________________________________Rick... ....... |

I define things as whether or not it "sucks" or "doesn't suck".
I have Dish Network and have noticed audio overloading on some channels, too...FX and sports stuff on the major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) tend to be the worst. Not expecting audiophile quality out of it, though. |

One that most people understand (even other teenagers near me) is "farty" bass, where the speaker has reached physical limits. Apart from that, they still prefer my wharfedale speakers over their phones, without knowing exactly why. All hope is not yet lost for this generation.
Others can pick out "tinny" sounds, ie lacking in bass, but few people know when there's too much bass. "ruin your wife's blissful experience"... you not mean enlighten her??? Chris
