I attended this Connecticut Audio Society (CAS) meeting hosted by Peter Ledermann,
founder of Soundsmith Audio, and DirectGrace Records: http://www.sound-smith.com/ http://www.directgrace.org/Home.html Here's a post with pictures about the visit: http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/vin...84/847077.html Here's a youtube video about his direct to disc recording process where the funds go to help rescue children in 3rd world countries: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipJDG_jnyUk His two record cutting lathes were purchased from "The Hit Factory" in NYC and one was used to record the Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc. back in the 1960s. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and have to say that Peter Ledermann is a true gentleman - Thank you Peter! It was fascinating to see and hear about how Peter reverse engineered the B&O moving iron phono cartridges and how he has also brought back a new and improved version of the strain gauge cartridge. B&O now gets replacement cartridges from Soundsmith. One of his phono cartridges reviewed in Stereophile: http://www.stereophile.com/phonocartridges/408sound/ Pete B. |
