PCB Layout - Preview of Monster Amp
This is the crazy pcb layout I'm doing for the aussieamplifiers.com
AV800 amplifier. This will be my reference board that measures
8" x 10.75".
My minor modifications are untested !! Who knows if it will fly.
That's the fun part about DIY !! (rhymes).
AV800 - 1KW version specs.
550w @ 8 ohms
1050W @ 4 ohms
1600w @ 2 ohms (short term)
My AV800 - 1KW vs. Original
* 28 output mosfets vs. 20
* 19,040 uf capacitance on pcb vs. zero
(plus external PS caps !)
* 6800 uf capacitance just for amplifier stages vs. 440uf
* Extensive protection circuit will be added (right side of PCB
that is empty) vs. none
* 4 Layer PCB with two internal planes, one plane for
power/gnd distribution and one plane for speaker out.
Routing is done on bottom layer. Top layer will have
redundent power/gnd tracks and 1/4" x 1/4" copper
bus bar for +V and -V (gold plated bars) heh.
Red = top layer = component side.
