Currently I am looking for headphones, not ordinary headphones.. but headphones that can reach frequencies of 17 hertz. I know this may not be exactly easy to find or cheap, so if any of you know where I could find these that would be great, I asked musiciansfriend if they had any and they said they only had headphones that went to 20 hertz, the reason I am searching is I listen to/ construct, ambient soundscapes that frequencies at 17 hertz can help to enhance. Thank you.

I think you'll only get this low with insert earphones. By sealing the speaker into the ear canal it is easy to generate low frequencies.
http://store.shure.com/store/shure/e...ID.105460100#t I've used products from Etymotic Research in the past with excellent performance. However, such a seal poses it's own hazards. Be careful inserting and removing such devices and don't turn it too loud for too long! |

I strongly suspect that 17 Hz is felt (in the body) more than heard. But, maybe that frequency excites brain waves in some way even if it is technically inaudible.
Sony claimed 5Hz - 30kHz response for the MDR-V900 headphones. With 2" diaphragms and 3 Watt power handling, they should be capable of squeezing brains out your nostrils. |
